ECR workshop April 2024
On April 17th, we will organise a workshop for PhD students and early-career researchers who study the intersection of politics and society, broadly conceived. We welcome working papers on long-standing themes in political sociology such as social movements, unions, political parties, power, citizenship, revolutions, policing, bordering, the state, nations and nationalism, as well as on newer themes including the politics of climate change and 21st-century permutations of capitalism. We particularly welcome contributions which implicitly or explicitly challenge the colonial foundations of sociology.
The workshop will take place at the LSE and will offer a friendly space to present and discuss work in progress. Participation is free and catering will be provided. We thank the LSE PhD Academy for its support.
If you would like to participate, please send an email to politicalsociologycollective@gmail.com with a few hundred words describing your work, your institutional affiliation (if any) and the themes of your working paper.

Rethinking the canon
Over the course of 2024, we will be developing an alternative reading list for our subdiscipline. The reading list will include canonical texts in political sociology alongside critical reflections on the canon’s elision of its colonial entanglements and newer texts on developments in contemporary capitalism. To make suggestions or to get involved, please email us.
